Charles “Chuck” Bird
I’m just now finding out of Steve’s passing. I go back a long time ago with Steve. In 1966 he had returned from his mission and was a floor supervisor in “T” Hall of Deseret Towers. I lived across the hall from him. I was all of 17 years old, away from home for the first time and without any close friends at BYU. Steve became a good friend and role model in my young life. What he had, I wanted. I had not been planning on serving a full time mission for the church. That all changed having met”SKOLSON.”He was the big brother I never had. He showed an interest in me. His many positive traits shown like a beacon in a light house. Living a good life set the pattern for me t follow. Soon I was serving on a mission in Chile. I never saw him again but his life’s example was huge in my development as a young man. Sometimes we never know who or how much our example was for others.
