Dorris Maie Sciaroni's Obituary
Dorris was born on May 6, 1928 in Bakersfield, California to Viola Zacharias Siemens and George Siemens. She passed away on May 31, 2021 at her home in San Carlos, California.
Dorris grew up with her parents and her brothers, Everett and Kenneth, on ranches in California’s Central Valley. Her family raised potatoes, alfalfa hay, watermelons, dairy cattle, and more.
Dorris attended elementary school and high school in the Central Valley. She earned her degree in landscape design from University of California at Davis.
While at UC Davis, Dorris met the man who would be her husband for almost seventy years, Hank Sciaroni. Dorris and Hank made many wonderful friends at UC Davis and beyond and maintained those friendships throughout their lives.
Dorris and Hank moved to San Carlos, where they made their home for more than sixty years. They eventually welcomed two children, Scott and Linnea, and three granddaughters, Kelly, Victoria, and Sophie.
Over the years, Dorris was active in the lives of her children, her grandchildren, and the community. She volunteered at school, with the local PTA, and with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Dorris was a “pink lady” women’s auxiliary volunteer in Sequoia Hospital’s emergency department for many decades. She was a member of the Sequoia Hospital Foundation, San Carlos Junior Matrons, and participated in many other charitable and community organizations with her husband, Hank.
Dorris will most be remembered, however, as a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She lived a long, happy, and fulfilling life.
Dorris is survived by her son Scott, daughter Linnea, son-in-law Alan, and granddaughters Kelly, Victoria and Sophie, as well as her nieces and nephews and their families.
Dorris was laid to rest next to Hank at Skylawn Memorial Park on June 8, 2021 with her children, granddaughters and caregiver present. A release of white doves followed. Father Dave Ghiorso presided, with Father Samuel Musiimenta giving a Rosary the afternoon before.
Dorris’s family would like to thank the following people for making it possible for Dorris and Hank to remain together in their home through the end of their lives: Judeline Taguinod, Dr. Mary James and the Stanford Senior Care Clinic, Dr. Mehrdad Ayati, the Bartoli family, the Angelides family, Oscar Martin, Kahn Francisco, Jun Ella, Ferdie Alagon, Ronel Sangil, Freddie Concepcion, Jerry Torres, Shannon McDonald, and Pathways Hospice.
