Doris Marie Pierce's Obituary
Doris Marie Hill was born on June 23, 1927 in Memphis, Tennessee. The only child of James Hill and Glennie Bailey. Doris graduated Commerce High School in San Francisco and then enrolled in San Francisco State were she majored in education. While there she became a member of the Delta Kappa Beta Sorority. Even after she graduated she often severed and remained an active member for many years. She taught for many in the San Francisco school district. Even in her spare time she often tutored many students and members of her community as well as family members. It was her passion. She participated often at her Church of the Lutheran of our Saviory where she assumed many roles in service. With her friend Anita Provost she remained active in various roles serving in NAACP and also issues concerning civil rights. Doris was a passionate reader of literature and liked to paint in her spare time. She loved camping with her family and often taking numerous summer vacations at Yosemite National Park… which she preferred the mountains more than the valley). She leaved behind a cousin Sam Price of Tenn; sons, Donald; William and Joseph. Grandchildren; Brannon, Kyle, Ryan, William and Marquez. A great-grandchild, Monrequx. Nieces, Janet; Debrough; Catherine and nephew, Perrich. Best friend, Anita Provost. Also along with other loving relatives and dear friends in California; Nebraska and Tennessee. Service will be held on June 30, 2017 at 11:00 am at Skylawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park in San Mateo. Pallbearers: Grandchildren; family and friends.
