In loving memory of Donna Marie Self Valenzuela
Sunrise: December 20, 1952 / Sunset: July 14, 2022
Donna Marie was born to Robert and Marie Self on December 20, 1952 at 8:08 p.m. at St. Lukes Hospital. Donna has 9 brothers, Don Ed, Larry, Ritchie, Raymond, Tank, Russell, Clyde, William and Wayne and 2 sisters, Paula and Sheila. She also has a son, Bobby, Jr., a daughter-in-law Sharice and 4 grandchildren, Anjalina, Bobby III, Rodney and Abiah.
Donna worked as a housekeeper for Kaiser Hospital for 20 years. Donna loved to have a good time and loved listening to her oldies. She said it reminds her of “the good ole days,” a time when everyone got along and looked out for each other and each other’s kids.
Donna contracted cancer shortly after she cleaned her life up. She underwent treatment and beat it, however on July 14, 2022, Donna passed away unexpectedly from an out-patient surgery procedure where she had complications breathing and heart failure.
In the last few years of her life, she developed a relationship with her family. Donna was very proud of her grandchildren and extremely proud of her son Bobby and how his life turned out. She especially loved her son Bobby V’s ribs.

Waiting in the Light
When you wake up tomorrow And grief takes your breath away Know that I watch over you And walk with you each day.
Though unseen, I stay close by We’re never far apart The love we shared gives testament To all that’s in your heart.
I see the way you struggle now To hold your head up high I’m proud of you because I know How very hard you try.
I wish that I could hold you close And ease the pain you feel I want so much to talk to you And promise that you’ll heal.
One day you will see me again Once more within your sight I’ll be right here to walk you in I’m waiting in the light.
