Donald J. Walrod's Obituary
Don Walrod, age 67, of San Bruno and more recently Redwood City, died after an unexpected medical crisis on October 5th, at Kaiser Hospital in Redwood City.Don was born August 7, 1951 to Richard and June Walrod in San Francisco. He grew up in San Bruno, attending Edgemont-Allen Elementary, Parkside Junior High and Crestmoor High School. He attended San Jose State University, majoring in engineering, but left to pursue a 45-year career in the GM Automobile Industry as a Parts Manager which was driven by his life long passion for classic cars of all kinds, hot rodding and drag racing. After buying his 1936 Ford from his father at age 15, Don joined the Early Wheels Car Club at age 19, becoming a life time member. He was very proud of his association with Early Wheels which just celebrated its 50 year anniversary. Don married his wife Betti in January of 1995 and after living in San Bruno for 52 years, moved to Redwood City in 2003, continuing his life always dedicated to his wife, children and family.Don is survived by his wife Betti, son Duane Walrod, daughter Jaclyn Lufkins (husband Paul), son Giuseppe Piazza (wife Sara), son Thomas Walrod and grandsons Luca and Nico Piazza. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and June Walrod and his sister Janice Koskovich. Don also leaves behind his cherished co-members of the Early Wheels Car Club, a long list of friends and business acquaintances. He will be dearly missed.In lieu of flowers, the family’s wishes are for donations of either time or money to CPR awareness.
