Ding Yee Young's Obituary
Ding Yee Young was born on Oct 11, 1947 in the village of Yayao in Guangdong, China. Her father was Nai Xin Soong and mother is Mei Xia Feng. She was the third eldest in a family of five children (two older sisters followed by a brother and a younger sister). She grew up in a modest home in the countryside and had limited opportunities to education in those days. Ding Yee finished middle school and enrolled in a vocational school where she learned how to become a nurse. She was a quick learner and diligent at her craft, and this allowed her to rise through the ranks in her hospital and became one of the best OB/GYN nurses in the ward. After coming to the United States, Ding worked as a seamstress, clothing inspector and salesperson to support her family. In the mid-90s, she worked as a salesperson at Skylawn Memorial Park for more than 15 years and was the grand champion one year with the highest sales/volume.Ding Yee enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing mahjong, and most of all spending time with her family. She liked to travel and was accompanied by her husband on their trips to Europe, Asia, and North America. She was kind hearted, generous and had great integrity in business and in life. She is survived by her husband (Gar Sing), children (Lisa and Bryant), and three grandchildren (Russell, Katie and Allison).
