I really enjoyed working with David. He had such a great sense of humor. He used to tease me about being too cavalier and essentially “joysticking” the LADEE spacecraft. Then one evening I came in and was surprised to see an actual joystick at the flight director’s console. Got a good laugh. So sorry you are gone David. You will be missed.
This is such sad news. David was a key contributor to NASA?s TESS mission. I relied on his extensive experience and advice to successfully meet our mission milestones. Just four months ago David, a co-worker and I attended the TESS critical design review meeting in Boston. David was full of energy and after attending daylong meetings enjoyed long walks from Cambridge to downtown Boston in the warm summer evenings. More importantly than his work contribution, David was good man who was very proud of his family. This is a sad time for his coworkers. I will truly miss him.
David gave me my first shot in the space industry as I made a late transition from academia to industry… an opportunity I have always appreciated and will never forget.
