Damian Flores (Bubba) 07/18/1998 – 07/21/2014A much beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, Damian Flores was granted his angel wings on July 21, 2014, following a lifelong illness with polymicrogyria (a condition characterized by an abnormal development of the brain before birth). His final days were spent in the Pediatric ICU surrounded by family and friends, whose lives he had touched in a very profound way in his short, yet very memorable life.Damian’s life would seem too short to many, but for those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him and though he never spoke a word, his voice and thoughts could always be heard.Although Damian’s illness made him appear frail, he possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories.With Damian’s passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him everyday, he will forever remain in our hearts. The biggest tribute we can pay him would be to live life the way he did – with courage, resiliency, and compassion.Damian is survived by his loving parents, Sharon and Edward Flores; siblings Angelica, Dominic and Celine Flores; grandparents Elsy Bran and Martha Arroliga; and aunt Aiza Flores.
