Cynthia Helen Phan's Obituary
Cynthia Helen Phan was born to Basil and Madeleine Jones in Surrey, England on August 11, 1925. Cynthia passed away at the age of 95 while surrounded by her loving family on November 15th, 2020. Cynthia grew up in England, however, after World War II she came to America with her family where she met and married the love of her life John T Phan. Cynthia resided in Redwood City, CA for over 50 years raising her children and devoting much of her time to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. She had a deep passion for bridge, travel, bowling, and all board games as she was a fierce competitor. She spent her whole life eating healthy and constantly researching healthy alternatives which made her ahead of her time.
She is survived by her three children and their families; Caroline Phan (Kevin Slattery) of San Jose, CA, Jennifer Wirfel of Concord CA, and Colin Phan (Dana Matonis) of San Diego, CA. Cynthia shared her love for playing games with her 8 grandchildren Jason (Jenna) Wohlwend, Jennifer Wohlwend (Gabreil Cardiel), Julia Wohlwend (Kayli Fisher), Sara Slattery (Ryan Wanless), Christopher(Randi) Wirfel, Amanda Wirfel, Ryan Phan, Conor Phan and great grandson Arlo. Cynthia is also survived by her two loving sisters Barbara Jones, Taunton, England and Sheila Barrows, San Mateo, CA A private service for the immediate family will be held at Skylawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, San Mateo, CA. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Redwood City, CA or the WorldWildlife Fund.
