Clarice Davis Booker Born: July 9, 1927 Deceased: February 3, 2020. Today, Monday, February 3rd, 2020, at 12:20 p.m. PDT, Clarice Davis Booker of San Mateo, California, 92, passed peacefully from this life. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Perry (Perry), her son, Perry Dale Booker, her granddaughter, Tina Clarice Vassallo and members of her immediate family including her parents Clarence Benjamin and Mabel Alma Davis of Lyons, Kansas, her siblings, Clarence Benjamin, Jr, Dorothy, Dale and Beverly. She is survived by grandson James Perry (J.P.) Kiernan of New Jersey, great-grandsons, Anthony and Daniel Vassallo, and grandson-in-law, Joe Vassallo of San Carlos, California. Having been born in Woodward, Oklahoma, on July 9, 1927, she lived through the Great Depression in the epicenter of it all - the Dust Bowl laden panhandle of western Oklahoma. She returned to Kansas with family and married Perry Booker of Lyons, Kansas after Perry returned from WWII service having served in the Pacific Theater with the Navy. Perry's post-war career took them to the south San Francisco Bay area where he worked at Lockheed. She and Perry lived in San Mateo for over 65 years prior to his passing, and now, hers. Having worked at Bank of America for years, she enjoyed a very pragmatic and simple life enjoying gardening, her neighborhood friends and her family both near and far. She enjoyed serving and participating in her local San Mateo Garden Club, playing bingo, traveling on rare and unique trips, and jaunts to Costco where she enjoyed an ice cream cone and loved to bring home her biscotti! Anyone having known Clarice will surely remember her twinkle-eyed grin, her gentleness, and the soft-spoken grace that displayed her genuine kindness. It should be noted that her kind caretakers, Soraya and Kathy, lovingly served Clarice for over 12 years as her health declined.
