Clara Mae Rickard's Obituary
Clara Mae Rickard, aged 92, of San Francisco died in Petaluma on December 14, 2020 due to complications of dementia.
She was born September 4, 1928 in Kenwood, CA to Hilda A. Larson and Edmond Laurent. She attended school in Kenwood and graduated from Balboa High School in San Francisco. Clara worked as a secretary for Johnson & Johnson. On April 16, 1949 she was married to Charles Leonard Rickard.
Clara was very health conscious especially when it came to food and exercise. She would faithfully ride her stationary bicycle and take her early morning walks around the Sunset district in SF. Even when she was forced to use a walker she still managed to get out for a little stroll. Lots of veggies were a staple of her diet (much to the chagrin of her children). She was also a fan of ice cream, more so during the last couple of years. It was important that she didn’t run out as that was one of her few vices.
She became a Golden State Warriors fan and didn’t want to miss a game. She would get disappointed and give up on them when they were losing, even by a small margin. Unfortunately she missed a lot of exciting comeback wins because of this!
Clara is survived by her son, Craig (Dawn) Rickard, and daughter, Cheri (Gary) Hicks along with three grandchildren (Carrie (James) Dennington, Melissa Hicks, & Maddie Hicks) and one great grandchild (Finn Dennington).
A private service will be held in early 2021.
