Mrs. Chu Ying Wu passed away peacefully on July 20, 2013 at the California Pacific Medical Center: Pacific Campus. She was 96 years old. She is survived by four sons, three daughters, sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grand children. Mrs. Chu Ying Wu was born in Canton Province, City of Hoi Ping on January 19, 1917. She married to Mr. Tien Lee Wu through the City of Guang Zhou’s First Sponsored Group Wedding Ceremony on December 1, 1935. She lived through the Japanese Aggressive War against China and the subsequent Chinese Civil War from 1945-1949. She and her husband raised four sons and three daughters. In 1950 the family moved to Hong Kong; her husband worked as a typesetter while she worked as a seamstress to support the family. The family emigrated to San Francisco through the sponsorship of her sister, Helen and husband, On Sin Woo; and sister, Mary and husband, Albert Cheung in1963. She continued to work as a seamstress and managed to financially support her remaining relatives in Hong Kong. As a mother, she encouraged every family member to work diligently with the hope to improve the families’ livelihood. She emphasized that all her children become productive members of society through education. Mrs. Wu enjoyed her retirement years with many of her sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great grand children. After her husband’s passing in 1999, she chose to move into assisted living at the On Lok Senior Services. She accepted Christ as her personal savior in 2003. Praise God for His grace and mercy! Mrs. Wu went home with our Lord peacefully on July 20, 2013.
