Dr. Chizuko Izawa's Obituary
Dr. Chizuko Izawa, 86, of San Carlos, CA passed away on February 24, 2021.
Dr. Izawa was born on April 15, 1934 in Tokushima, Japan, the middle of three children and only daughter of Yuzo and Chikano Izawa.
Dr. Izawa received her B.A. from the University of Tokyo in 1960 and arrived in San Francisco on Christmas Day in 1960 to pursue her M.A and Ph.D. at Stanford University. She was a long time tenured professor in the Psychology Department at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. She shared her love for psychology and learning with many students.
She was preceded in death by Dr. Robert G. Hayden, her husband of over four decades and is survived by her daughter, Althea Fuhr, her older brother Chuzo Izawa of Tokushima, Japan and her younger brother Yoshifumi Izawa of Hokkaido, Japan.
The family would like to thank Bayview Villa Memory Care, Mission Hospice, Colma Cremation and Skylawn Memorial Park where Dr. Izawa’s ashes were scattered on April 21, 2021.
