Charles Wilbert Greer's Obituary
Charles Wilbert Greer IIIDecember 22, 1923 – January 18, 2016Charles Wilbert Greer III gently passed away late in the morning of January 18, 2016 in Sunnyvale, California. Born December 22, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he had just turned 92, and though his health had been failing these last months, he applauded with gusto after hearing his birthday song sung to him. Charles, known to everyone as Chuck, was a man who enjoyed fishing and golf, was a voracious reader, loved cinema, and never missed his evening cocktail, even while on hospice. A graduate from Annapolis Naval Academy in 1945, he went on to serve his country during wartime. His career was made at Graybar Electric; he loved the work, the camaraderie, and the connections maintained after retirement. We, his family, are most grateful he spent so many of his years as a father of four, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is preceded by his wife, MaryEllen Greer, and survived by his great, boisterous family. Though many of us ruffled his feathers, we know he loved each and every one of us.
