Vickie Aiello Lewis I met Chuck in 1980/81 when we worked together at the IRS in San Francisco. We quickly became friends and I was introduced to his beautiful wife Alice and beautiful daughters Lisa and Karen. A few of us from work became close friends and socialized with each other. Chuck and I had a close friendship and he was like a brother to me. We used to talk every night on the phone. I was devastated when he was diagnosed with dementia and our nightly conversations were no more. I am heartbroken to learn of Chuck’s passing but know he is safe in the loving arms of God.

I met Chuck on May 1, 2013 when my mother became his neighbor at an assisted living complex for people diagnosed with dementia. Chuck stood out from the other twelve residents because of the sparkle in his eye and his beautiful smile. It was obvious to me that Chuck was a good, kind and well loved man. What a pleasure it has been over the past three years and four months to know and care about Chuck and his wonderful family. To watch his face light up every time Karen and Lisa would walk through the door always brought a big smile to everyone’s face. Chuck was not the only one to benefit by having his three grandchildren visit. All eyes were on Alicia and Lucas as they ran all about with their happy and sweet little faces entertaining everyone and filling their hearts with joy. I missed out on seeing Chuck with his newest granddaughter, Charlie, but the picture I saw of him holding her brought tears to my eyes — he was over the moon with love and pride. Karen and Lisa were a constant presence in their dad’s life and took exceptional care of him. They fought tirelessly for the best care possible and always strived to do right by him. It was obvious that Chuck was well aware of their unwavering love and appreciated every ounce of effort and energy his daughters expended on his behalf. Until his final breath he knew he was loved. How sad it was to receive the news of Chuck’s passing. We met in 1999 when I transferred to the San Francisco IRS office. We were proud to be a hard working team of regional analysts, but nothing compared to the pride Chuck had for his family. He talked often and fondly of his beautiful and talented wife, and his smart, adventurous and successful daughters. Chuck beamed with stories about Alice’s crafty creations and yummy homemade ravioli, and Lisa and Karen’s life achievements. Chuck had an infectious laugh that came easily and frequently – a positive guy who loved to entertain, and it didn’t hurt that he made a mean vodka gimlet! Dans ces moments difficiles recevez toute mon affection , et mes condoleances . Chuck was such a good friend and cousin I’ll never forget him . He will be always in my heart . Chuck was my best friend when we were both trying to figure who we were We traveled cross country to New York in a car my dad bought me for graduating high school Many trips with him with my dad’s camper trailer. We lost track of each other after we both got married and had kids. We reconnected about 3 or 4 years ago for dinner with one of his daughters. I loved seeing him again As an only child he was like a brother to me and I will miss him so much

I met Chuck when he and Alice joined the Wednesday Suppers community at Most Holy Redeemer in San Francisco. They were truly a dynamic duo. Chuck and I were the greeters at the front gate, welcoming people, distributing bag lunches to those who had to wait, and occasionally breaking it to someone that they weren’t going to be able to come in for the hot meal. Chuck’s warmth, compassion and good sense were on display every Wednesday. He was a great gate partner. In our conversations between greeting and sorting, Chuck’s love for his family and for life was tangible. I treasure those times and those memories.
