Chance Hales' Obituary
Chance Hales, aged 20 resident of San Mateo, California passed away on Monday May 22, 2017 in a motorcycle accident on Canada Road in San Mateo County California.Chance was born on December 18, 1996 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Kimberly Newell and Howard Hales. Chance grew up in southern California and the bay area. He attended the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad, CA and had also briefly attended the College of San Mateo. Chance was employed at American Precision Gears in Foster City, CA as a machinist.Chance played baseball from a very young age and enjoyed practicing and playing with his Granddaddy. Chance was also on the Riffle team at Army Navy Academy which he took great pride in. Chance enjoyed surfing, fishing, playing video games, watching NASCAR and hockey games, working on his dodge truck and motorcycle, range shooting, and working with his Granddaddy on the old yellow truck. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Christmas time was his favorite part of the year, he loved to decorate with Narge and this last year he had decked out his truck with a wreath and lights. Disneyland was one of his favorite places. Animals and children would gravitate towards Chance and he would naturally light up. This gave him great joy. Chance was a fiercely loyal, respectful, kind, determined, loving, and generous son, grandson, cousin, nephew, boyfriend, and friend and his loss will be deeply felt by many who have been blessed to have known him. He will be missed every day.Chance is survived by his loving mother Kimberly, his maternal grandparents Narge and Duke, his paternal grandparents Joyce Ann Wilson and Daniel Hales, his auntie Karina and uncle Kirk, niece Abigail, cousins Sara, Michelle, Vicki and Gary Morrison, Cathryn Krauel and Scott Bishop, Erin Newell, Scott Newell family, Quin, Colin, Meg and Brian McCarry. His loving girlfriend Emily Pfleghaar and her family Nancy, Joe, little Joe and his dog Carolina. As well as lots of loving aunties and uncles in Florida.Chance was predeceased in death by his father Howard Hales, his grandparents Norma Jean and George Newell, his aunt Barbara Lahti, his step grandmother Naomi Jean Ayers, and several loving pets.In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Brother Benno’s soup kitchen in Oceanside, CA https://www.brotherbenno.org/ or your local favorite animal rescue.
