Mrs. Cecil Mae Mesick's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Cecil Mae Mesick, 83 of San Bruno, CA on, September 12, 2022.
Cecil Mae Mesick (Thomas) was born July 22, 1939 in Helena, Phillips County, Arkansas from the union of mother Queen Isabella Wilson and father Cecil Hanibel Thomas.
She grew up in Helena, AR until the approximate age of 12 when her father moved the family to Pittsburgh, PA in 1951. Growing up in Pittsburgh, she enjoyed going to school, attending Sunday School and worship services, and thrived as a young Christian woman. She was very smart—often challenging her teachers. She graduated with high honors from Schenley High, Pittsburgh, PA in 1957.
She married in 1958. Although this union did not last, she was blessed with 2 children, Allen Lamar and Yvette Michelle.
In 1966, she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Mesick, while working in the Post Office in Pittsburgh, PA. They dated several months before deciding to marry and move to San Francisco, CA in 1967. Months later, their family was complete with the birth of Donald Charles.
Cecil loved Jesus and knew she was called to live out her gift of teaching in the San Francisco Bay Area. She facilitated Vacation Bible Schools, Sunday Schools, and several Bible Study groups allowing the Holy Spirit to use her gift of teaching and ministry.
The Lord allowed her to continue facilitating until a few short months ago. She met each Tuesday with the Ladies Bible Study from the Church of the Highlands.
Cecil’s hobbies and interests include reading and studying God’s Holy Word, listening to Gospel music, gardening, watching classic, Sci-Fi, and horror movies, and traveling.
Cecil was a Spirit-filled, loving, and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister (biological & spiritual), aunt, friend, and mentor.
She is preceded in death by siblings Willene, Dorothy, Luke, Linda, and Willie.
She leaves to cherish her memory sister Isabella (Bae). Children, Lamar (DeeDee), Yvette (Dwight), Donald (Janel). Grandchildren, Dominic, Cynthia (Archie), Raimee, Patricia, Alyssa, Darian. Great-Grandchildren, Alyna, Bianca, and multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, a God-daughter, friends, mentors, and brothers & sisters in Christ.
Although, she will be greatly missed here on earth, we are at peace knowing she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she loved and served with all her heart.
Let us never forget to heed and follow Cecil’s last exhortation; “Pray and do not faint.”
