Catalina Aragon Huerta's Obituary
Catalina Aragon Huerta
November 26, 1932 - October 10, 2024
Born in Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico, and later making her home in San Francisco, California, Catalina (Kati) Huerta was the pure definition of a matriarch. Her legacy is woven into the fabric of her family's lives and the community she tirelessly served.
Kati is survived by her loving children: Robert E. Huerta, Eva Simi (Ronald), Rosa Huerta, her adopted daughter Vicki, and Jackie Daly (Sean). Her lineage continues through her cherished grandchildren: Ivette Roca (Mauricio), Roberto Carlos Huerta, Richard Huerta (Nicca), Alex Huerta, Ryan Huerta, Vincent Simi (Shanae), Kimberly Simi, Brianna Saltamachia (Stephen), Brenden Daly (Adriane), and her great-grandchildren: Antonio and Andres Roca, Jhaydine, Chelsey, Gabriella, and Richard Jr. Huerta, Sean, Eamon, Catalina Saltamachia, Reagan, and Elle Simi. 20 grand/great children in total.
Kati's career began at a state fair where she met the love of her life, Robert G. Huerta. After moving to San Francisco, she worked as an aide with HeadStart, dedicating herself to the community she loved. Her true calling was at Mission Dolores, where she served as a housekeeper in the rectory and volunteered as a founding member of the Sociedad Guadalupana. Kati's favorite moments at Mission Dolores included making floral arrangements for the alter, monitoring the Eucharist Ministers, working at the gift shop at the old Mission, and her memorable honor of receiving Communion from Pope John Paul I in 1987 at Candlestick Park.
Kati had a passion for arts and crafts, creating elaborate Nativity scenes during Christmas, and collecting stamps. She had a playful spirt, love for her pets (Deliah, Pedro, and Luna) and was a devoted fan of the San Francisco Giants.
Her generous spirit and dedication to her family and community left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Kati's life was a testament to devotion, love, and service. Her memory wil be cherished by her family and all who had the privilege to know her.
