Carolyn Hansen's Obituary
Carolyn Hansen, aged 90, longtime resident of Santa Clara and most recently of Glendale Arizona, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and with her dog Wendell by her side. Carolyn was born June 26th 1931 in Sacramento California to Elmer and Marjorie Burrell. She grew up in Suisun California alongside her childhood friend and future husband Howard Hansen. After graduating from San Jose State University, she married Howard in 1953 and moved to Norfolk Virginia where she started her long teaching career while Howard was is the Navy. After Howard completed his service, the couple moved to San Jose and later settling Santa Clara. Carolyn at taught at Milliken and Sutter Elementary Schools retiring in 1993. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling the country, visiting national parks, and appreciating small towns. She was also an avid San Francisco Giants fan and bird aficionado. She is preceded by her husband Howard of 62 years and is survived by her children: Bill, Sally and Laura; and grandchildren: Kyle, Paige, Scott and Lauren. A private memorial service will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Save the Redwoods League.
