Carol Ann Lee's Obituary
On June 26th Carol Lee peacefully passed away at her home. She left this earthly life to be with the Lord.
Carol Ann Chock Lee was born on January 20, 1932 in Jinjaohuan (later renamed Jinxi Village), Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, China to Sen Chock and Shee Lee. She left China as teenager on a steamship along with her younger sister Rose and little brother Edwin to join their family in Fresno. In 1956, she married Chester Lee, who was living in the North Beach of San Francisco. Carol and Chester raised a family of three children, Gloria, Roland and Howard. Family was the center of life for Carol and Chester. They believed in taking the family out on weekends, bicycling in Golden Gate Park, hiking in forests or visiting with relatives. After having the three children, Carol began working at the postal service.
Carol became a Christian in 1976 and was faithfully involved in serving the Lord at San Francisco Bible Church. She found many wonderful friendships in the church community. She loved to sing hymns and study the scriptures.
Carol and Chester enjoyed an early retirement, traveling and helping to care for grandchildren. Difficult times struck when Chester suffered a stroke. Carol took care of him at home for six years. Carol later suffered from Alzheimer’s which gradually took away her memory and functioning. During these years of loss, to the end, she was courageous and loving.
Carol was a remarkable generous woman who lived a full life. She understood the value of time; she never squandered time doing things half-heartedly. She focused on what is true and important and generously gave all her heart and soul, all her energy and love to family, friends and serving God. She was selfless and independent. She was a rigorous planner. She was a wonderful cook. She was a constant learner and reader. She believed in healthy eating and exercise. She maintained her mental health by long phone calls with her sisters Lucille and Rose, and shopping excursions with her friends.
Carol is survived by daughter Gloria (Chris Wilder), sons Roland (Shu-ling) and Howard (Stephanie), grandchildren Samuel and Maxwell Wilder, Jennifer (Jonathan Wong), Cynthia (Richard Sung), Monica Lee, Connor, Karah and Marie Lee, great-grandchildren Joshua and Logan Wong, Madeline Sung, brothers Walter, Edwin and sister Rose Hum. She is dearly missed and will always live in our hearts.
