Caria Kong was born on February 9th, 1954 in Guangzhou, China. She was the youngest daughter of Hor-Ching (father-deceased) and Chi-Fun (mother-deceased), and sibling to Sou-Sum (sister), Paul, Liane, Joey (sister), Ben, and Lawrence (deceased).Talented in the arts, Caria loved to paint in high school and developed herself to become a professional amateur in Chinese landscape painting. At the age of 22, she immigrated to California to attend college. Soon afterwards, she met her husband and life completely changed.Caria met John for the first time through a family acquaintance and found herself moving in with him to the Bay Area. They married in March 1979, and since then grew the family to include two children: Patrick and Stephanie.Even though she was busy raising her children, Caria worked hard to support her family by having multiple jobs. First, helping out with the family grocery store, followed by running a coffee shop and Chinese restaurant in Manteca, simultaneously. Eventually, she settled on a career as a tax preparer.Caria was a caring wife, daughter, and mother. She would spend hours preparing food and meals for her aging mother-in-law and family, even traveling long distances from her town of Manteca to help take care of her mother on days off.Among family and friends, Caria was very kind hearted and always did things for other people. She will always be remembered as one of the most friendly and hospitable people you would ever meet. A prolific mahjong player, she always enjoyed the company of friends, sharing many jokes and laughter at the table over tiles.Caria always found time for her family regardless of what she was doing and was always there when her family needed her. She was a pillar of the family and constantly pushed her children and husband to do the best through good and bad times.Caria will be remembered as a woman that loved her family to the very end. The life guidance she has given to those around her will not be forgotten. She will be greatly missed.
