Brian W. Burwell passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, following a brief battle with cancer. Born in Redwood City, California, Brian was the beloved son of Bonita (Bonnie) and Bruce Burwell. He spent most of his life in Belmont, where he grew up and built a life around his family and hobbies.
Brian was a lifelong enthusiast of IndyCar racing, the San Francisco Giants, and the 49ers. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Margaret (Peggy) Burwell; his children, Kyle and Katherine (Katie); his siblings, Bob Burwell and Barbara McGinnis, along with their spouses and children; and his sister-in-law, Diane Burwell. Brian was preceded in death by his younger brother, Bradley Burwell, and his parents.
