Bret Allen McDonald's Obituary
Died on the afternoon of July 7, 2016 of a heart attack suffered while doing what he loved most, riding his road bike. Bret was 50-years of age and incredibly fit having competed in two Iron Man competitions, one last year, and numerous Triathlons.Bret was born in Santa Rosa, CA on December 2, 1965. He attended Carlmont High School in San Carlos, CA and graduated with honors from the University of California Irvine, CA with a degree in Economics. He became a successful Manufacturer’s Representative working for the same organization for nearly 20-years.Bret was the loving son of Mildred Esther Haman and Husband Larry Haman; and David D. McDonald and his wife Donna McDonald. He leaves two sisters Julie Wynn of Redding, CA and Grace McDonald of Corvallis, Oregon. Bret resided in San Carlos, CA. He leaves behind a daughter Emma McDonald and Step-Daughter Morgan Leech, also a Brother-in-Law Donald Wynn; Nephew Mathew Wynn and the love of his life Michelle Mahoney.Bret was an accomplished Soccer player, evolving into Rugby which he played throughout the World. Athletically, Bret became interested and excelled at the challenges of the Triathlon, swimming, competing in marathons and road bike challenges throughout the Western United States. He competed in two Iron Man competitions, one in Coeur d’ Alene, Id in 2010 and British Columbia, Canada in 2015.In all things, Bret enjoyed being with his friends and family and created a huge collection of friends and colleagues dating back to his elementary school days all of whom will gather for a celebration of his life.A private family only Funeral Service will be held on July 29th. Bret’s ashes will be interned at Skylawn located on Highway 92 at Skyline Blvd, in San Mateo, CA.In lieu of flowers donations in Bret’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association.
