Bimla Malhotra's Obituary
In the midst of the chants of evening prayers on March 9, 1928, a young couple, Shadi Ram and Lajwanti Kapoor was blessed with a beautiful daughter whom they named Bimla, meaning ‘PURE’. The name she lived by all her life. Ms. Bimla spent her childhood in the cities of Ludhiana, Ambala, and Delhi, India. She was only 14 years old when she lost her father. She was her father’s most favorite daughter. She helped her mother raise the family of six until July 12, 1949 when she got married to Mr. Bhagwat Chander, an official in the Reserve Bank of India. After just five years, in 1954, the destiny brought her back to her birthplace Ludhiana as a young widow with two children. As a single mother, she went back to school and earned a degree in teaching and started raising her two children, Anita and Arun. She sacrificed her whole life for the bright future of her children. And both the children excelled in education and earned college degrees and beyond. Her son Dr. Arun Malhotra is a leading researcher in his field and her daughter is a loving housewife. Ms Bimla Malhotra served Delhi Municipal Board as a full time teacher until retirement. She was a teacher of excellent repute. After retirement she came to the US to live with her children in San Jose area. She is leaving behind a bag full of values that will guide the family forever. Also, she is leaving behind the beautiful flowers of her garden, her children, Dr. Arun Malhotra, Sweety Malhotra, Anita Thapar, Vijay Thapar, grandsons, Anurag, Anmol, Amit, granddaughters, Vanita , Grima, great grandson, Aarav and members of her extended family. We all will miss her very much.Services in her honor will be held on Wednesday October 29th from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Private Cremation will follow.
