Dear Allshouse Family ~

I do not know your father or your family, but I felt I must write and tell you what a beautiful tribute you wrote for the Youngstown Vindicator. His senior high school graduation photo was a classic and compelled me to read the obituary. I shared his story with my family and we researched the Ghost Army. How fascinating and how proud you must be that your father was a part of it as such a young man.

It surely sounds like you have wonderful family memories to help you through this time.

I’m Debbie Ray Collender Bumm... This picture was taken just a few years ago. Bill Allshouse and his wife Donna were my parents (Dick and Jean Ray’s) best friends from as long as I can remember. Bill and Donna even helped my parents build their home in Hubbard, Ohio, when I was very little and they all went to church together back there. When they moved out here to join us in California we became even closer. They were like my second parents and family! They especially set a wonderful example to me (any many others.. ) of what 73 years of marriage should look like! He was a wonderful, caring, loving (and sometimes funny..) man. I was very blessed to know him. I will miss him very, very much, but are confident that he is with both of my parents in Heaven right now!
