Betty Nelson's Obituary
Betty NelsonMarch 22, 1937 – October 15, 2017Betty had a fun and full life. She was born in Orlando, FL, grew up all over the world; throughout the US in Florida, Missouri, and California, and in Costa Rica, Honduras, and Panama. She moved to San Francisco where she went to Poly High School. While working at Bank of America in San Francisco, she met Ignatius Nelson and married him in 1957. Shortly thereafter, they had four children and moved to Pacifica in 1961. She loved being a mom and devoted her life to her family.She is survived by her sister Emma Wallace, brother in-law George Grant; children Ignatius Jr., Jeffrey, Mary Lou, and Douglas; grandchildren, Katelyn, Jeff, Jennifer and Jessica; and daughters-in-law, Karen, Kesone, and Janet. She now joins her beloved husband “Naish”, sisters Becky and Dolores, and brothers Tom and Ted Dixon.Betty loved sports and especially watching her kids and grandkids participate in baseball, basketball, soccer, and softball. She was always their biggest cheerleader and rarely, if ever, missed a game. She was a lifelong Warriors fan and was thrilled with the recent championships by the team.She had a strong network of family and friends. Betty enjoyed working in the bank as a young adult and being a Donor Recruiter Manager at the Peninsula Blood Bank.Betty loved being a grandmother and being a part of her grandchildren’s lives as well as their friends. She was “Grams” to everyone. She had strong relationships with her nieces and nephews, helping whenever she could. She was the life of the party, always making people laugh, and loved dancing!Betty was a strong human rights advocate and a lifelong democrat.
