Barbara Maximovich's Obituary
Barbara Ann Maximovich passed away quietly in her home in Redwood City at the age of 79 on June 7th, 2026. She was in the company of family at the time of her passing.
Barbara was born in Ellsworth, Maine to Richard Chase and Celine (Krueger) Chase in 1946. She spent her early years in Ellsworth and Boston, Massachusetts, before moving to Redwood City with her family in 1956. Barbara enjoyed doing many things throughout her life. She played violin and performed in several musicals while attending Woodside High School. She participated in autocross events after graduation and met Milan Maximovich whom she later married in 1968. Shortly thereafter, the couple moved to Seattle for a couple years, and then down to Southern California in the early to mid 1970’s, at which time both Barbara and Milan became wine enthusiasts, participating in a tasting group that met on a monthly basis.
In 1975 they moved back to Redwood City where Barbara obtained a position at National Nuclear Corporation. She and Milan went to car slalom events, continued wine tasting, and started road cycling where they completed several organized century events. In 1985 she and Milan divorced and in 1987 she moved to Boulder Creek. During this time Barbara went to college and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science from UC Santa Cruz in 1996. In her later years she enjoyed international travel, which included a six month solo trip to Australia and New Zealand. Other trips included Argentina, Scandinavia, Great Britain, and Canada.
Barbara is survived by daughter Kira Maximovich, son Michael Maximovich, a grandson, Antone, and two granddaughters, Maia and Lorien. She will be laid to rest at Skylawn Memorial Park on June 22, 2026
