Artie Mae Johnson's Obituary
Artie Mae Johnson was born in Alabama in on March 19, 1924 to parents Wilson and Cora Mooney. She lived there until her late teens, when she met future husband Charles in high school. She followed Charlie from Ohio to Seattle to Oakland and Francisco while he was in the navy. During the war, she worked in the factories to support the war effort. She then went on to work for Lenkurt as a machinist for 20 years, becoming of their best line people.Artie and Charlie then ended up in La Honda where they built the house that they lived in until their passing. There, they raised their son Charles and daughter Martha.Artie especially loved to work out in her garden. She had a green thumb and could get everything to grow. She enjoyed the fresh vegetables and fruits of her labor, and was a great cook.Artie was always supportive. If you needed help, she would help you get it. She always gave everybody the benefit of the doubt and believed in giving people a second chance. She loved nature, baking and sweets. Artie will be fondly remembered for her kind, nonjudgmental ways, her dedication to her family, and her big heart.
