Armida Fernandez- Martinez's Obituary
Armida (Mirita) Fernandez-Martinez, 67, of Hayward, CA., passed away at home, peacefully with family members by her side on August 1, 2011, from complications of cancer. Armida was born in San Salvador, El Salvador on May 11, 1944, the first child of Armando and Mirtala Fernandez and is survived by her husband Gerardo Martinez; her three children: Terri Wright, Dharma Wright, and Paul O’Gorman; her four grandchildren: Angelina, McKenna, Alison, and Nicholas; her three siblings and their families: Al Fernandez, Priscilla Bell (Fernandez), and Ben Fernandez; and numerous other members of the Fernandez-Santos family. Armida was a lifelong and tireless teacher and educator who truly had the calling. She retired from the Jefferson Unified School District, but taught at many other educational venues, ranging from courses at San Francisco State to Sunday school at St. Bede’s and St. Clements Catholic Churches. Armida will always be remembered for her passion for life, faith, and especially family. Her family will forever miss her good spirit and strength. Services to remember Armida will be held at Skylawn Memorial Park Funeral Home located at Hwy 92 and Skyline Blvd in San Mateo. Ca. at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. A reception will follow at the Vista Room.
