Arlene Howard's Obituary
Arlene Howard aged 89, of San Francisco, California departed this life on July 17, 2010. Arlene Howard was born January 28, 1921 to the union of George Burton and Christina Green in Paris, Texas. Arlene attended and graduated from Gibbons High School on May 28, 1939 in Paris Texas. After graduation, Arlene attended Madam C. J. Walker School of Beauty Culture where she was awarded her diploma in all branches of beauty culture on October 20, 1944 and later pursued and obtained her Cosmetology License on January 6, 1964 from Don's Beauty School. On July 28, 1965, Arlene enrolled at Pacific Heights Adult School where she became a Certified Home Health Aid. Arlene Green was united in holy Matrimony on September 2, 1942 to A.B. Howard in Longview, Texas. They were sweethearts for sixty-eight years. Arlene was a very strong independent, caring, and out going trailblazer who was active in the community and loved meeting people. She served on the O.M.I Senior Advisory Board as a volunteer and supported other numerous charities in the San Francisco area. Arlene was an active member of Wright Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served on the usher board for over thirty years. Arlene's favorite creative hobbies were sewing, portrait painting, and craft beading. She enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada along with her friends from the Rosa Park and O.M.I. Center. She also enjoyed traveling to other countries and visiting the Caribbean with her beloved family. Mrs. Arlene Howard leaves in her bereavement to mourn her passing: Nephews, Larry McCuin of Plano, Texas and Kenneth McCuin of Dallas, Texas along with a host of great nieces and nephews.
