Arcadia Q. DimacaliSurrounded by her daughters, Arcadia Dimacali, 87, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2016. Arcadia is survived by five children; Catherine Cashin, Anja Dimacali, Robert Dimacali, Becky Poe, and Merly Lopez as well as 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Arcadia was born to Bonifacia and Arcadio Quiambao July 7, 1928 in Manila, Philippines where she lived until 1982. She was the oldest of 13 children and is predeceased by her parents, 5 sisters, 4 brothers, her son, Emer Dimacali and her loving husband, Dominador Dimacali. While living in Manila, Arcadia studied at the Far Eastern University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Commerce. She was always an entrepreneur and ran her own business. Arcadia also ran a childcare service where she was affectionately known as “Mama Ding”. For many years, she helped raise her numerous grandchildren and had a penchant for pinching their chubby cheeks. The last 30 plus years, Arcadia lived in the Bay Area, primarily in Daly City, after immigrating to the United States in 1982 with her family, following her husband’s service at the United States Embassy in Manila. She was a devout Catholic and established an immense network of friends of all ages through her activities with her church and her family. She was described as a feisty, happy, kind, funny, generous and compassionate wife, mother, sister, friend and mama by all who knew her. Arcadia was very musically inclined; she loved to play the piano, sing and she was a great cook. In addition to her wedding and the birth of her children and children’s children, the celebration of her 50th Wedding Anniversary was one of her most cherished events. Arcadia lived life fully and is greatly missed by all who knew her. Family and friends are invited to a viewing Friday, February 5, 2016 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Skylawn Memorial. Funeral services will be held at Skylawn Memorial Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:00 am.
