Antonio J. Diaz's Obituary
Antonio J. Diaz, known to family and friends as “Tono” passed away on February 24, 2019 in Brentwood, CA.He was born October 10, 1926 in Valladolid, Mexico. He came to California in 1958 and settled in Newark in 1974, the place he called home for 45 years.Antonio worked as a binder his entire career eventually retiring in 2003 at the age of 76. He loved his San Francisco Giants and attended many games with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed bowling, watching movies on the big screen and attending his grandkids soccer games. But most of all, Antonio loved spending time with his family.Antonio is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosa and his children Erick (Jan), Kerry (Johna), Terry (Kirsty), Adam, Ariel (Raquel) and Rosemary (Mark). He will also be lovingly remembered by his 15 grandchildren (who fondly referred to him as “Papa”), Lindy, Nola, Stella, Olivia, Emma, Lucas, Amelia, Anthony, Araceli, Fayth, Mariya, Breanna, Kylie, Makenna, Avery and his two great grandchildren, Alexander and Luciana, his sister Edith Callahan and many nieces, nephews and cousins in California, Valladolid and Merida Mexico.Visitation will be held on Monday – March 4, 2019 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm along with a rosary at 3:00 pm at Skylawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, Highway 92 and Skyline Blvd, San Mateo.Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday – March 5, 2019 from 10:30 – 11:30 am at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 5788 Thornton Ave., Newark. A celebration of Antonio’s life will be held in the church’s hall immediately following the Funeral Mass.Burial will be held at a later date.
