Annabel Stein's Obituary
ANNABEL STEIN 10/13/1919 – 6/17/2017Annabel Stein (97) passed away peacefully at the Bayview Villa in San Carlos in the early morning of June 17, 2017. Annabel was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 13, 1919 to Elwood and Edith Stevenson. She grew up in Berkeley, CA where her father was superintendent of the California School for the Deaf. After graduating from Berkeley High School, she attended the University of Oregon and graduated from San Francisco State University. It was at State where Annabel met the love of her life, William (Bill) Stein. They eloped to Reno and married in 1942. After raising her family, sons William and Robert and daughter Suzanne, in San Mateo and Burlingame, California; Annabel returned to SF State and earned her elementary teaching credential. She taught for many years in the Millbrae school system. Even after retirement Annabel continued to volunteer at the Millbrae elementary schools.Annabel was predeceased by her parents; her sister, June; and brother, Robert (Buzzy); her loving husband, William; and adored son, Robert. Annabel is survived by her son, William, and his wife Susan; by her daughter, Suzanne and husband, Bruce; five grandchildren (Sarah and husband Lawrence; David and wife Jessica; Heidi and husband Tino; Scott and wife Kathryn, and Barbara), and seven (7) great grandchildren (Chloe, Edith, Sadie, Sebastian, Cassian, Natasha and Fiona).A Jewish service was held at Skylawn Cemetery on June 20, 2017. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite educational organization.
