Ann Scholtz Alexander's Obituary
Ann Scholtz Alexander died peacefully on November 8, 2023, at age 87, at Palo Alto Commons in Palo Alto, CA, succumbing to metastatic melanoma. She was a Bay Area resident for 8 years having moved with her husband, Tom Alexander, from New Jersey to be near her sister-in-law, prominent attorney Mary Alexander, a resident of Atherton.
Ann was born on September 10, 1936, in New Jersey to Miro and Olga Scholtz. Tragically, her mother died during childbirth. She grew up and lived her whole life in New Jersey until moving to California.
She graduated from Trenton State College in Ewing Township, New Jersey. She worked as an elementary school teacher and was devoted to her students.
At the age of 43, she married her husband, Tom Alexander, on August 11, 1979, in New Jersey. They fell in love over their mutual enjoyment of classical music. Together, they enjoyed being in nature, bird watching, and traveling to Vermont to see the fall foliage. They spent lots of time in their RV trailer at a beloved lake in Arlington, Vermont. As baseball fans, they cheered for the Yankees. They were married 44 years.
Ann enjoyed reading and completed one novel per week. She was a devoted member of the Methodist Church and read the Bible regularly. She adored Teddy Bears and amassed quite a collection. She was known for her organizational skills and attention to detail. She had a passion for nature photography.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Miro and Olga Scholtz, her parents-in-law, Theron and Marie Alexander, and her brother-in-law, Lyman “Skip” Faulkner. Her survivors include her husband, Tom Alexander, her sister-in-law, Mary Alexander of Atherton, her niece, Michelle Loftis and her husband Tom Green of Menlo Park, great niece Lily Loftis, and great nephew Ian Loftis.
