Amy Ho's Obituary
Amy was born the first of five children to Jun Yuen & Mary Ho in San Francisco, California. In 1981, at age ten, the family moved from San Francisco to Alameda, California where Amy made deep friendships she would hold dear for the rest of her life. Good times shared with friends while at Encinal High School were particularly special to Amy.During her teenage years a number of Amy’s talents began to shine. At fourteen she began working at a local floral business, which prompted her lifelong love of flowers and gardening. After graduating from Encinal High School, she went on to study at Cal State University at Hayward where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting followed by a Master’s degree in Finance; an education supported by floral design and retail work at Lucky’s grocery stores where she served as floral department manager, and assistant grocery manager, among other roles. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Michael Shaghafi, whom she would marry seven years later.Amy’s passion for learning and love for all things new and interesting grew when she started as a business analyst/buyer at Webvan.com. After two years she moved to McKesson Corporation and then on to Longs Drugs. At Longs, the IT Department recognized her immense capacity for growth, mentoring her to become a business systems analyst, a great accomplishment for someone with no computer science background. Her growth and experience at Longs qualified her to be hired as a Business Systems Analyst at Disney, where she trained and worked alongside dear colleagues and friends. Her capacity and passion for learning, developing and refining her skills and craft, was only matched by her unwavering desire to help, bolster, and befriend others. Whether taking care of her parents, going to a concert with her sister, sharing a meal with her brother, spoiling her nephew, lifting up a co‐worker and friend, or simply giving her husband a kiss, she was a pure spark of joy, sunshine on a rainy day! She was someone who enriched the lives of those around her with her beaming smile, her energy, and her infectious positivity. Her success in this life cannot be measured by material things, but by the depth of love shown for her and breadth of impact her life, service, love and influence has had on all who crossed her path. We will miss her dearly, but her warmth and sunshine from above will always warm our hearts.
