Amelia "Mely or Mel" Citco Ruperto peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren in Hayward, California.
Amelia "Mely or Mel" Citco Ruperto was born on May 2, 1944, in Manila, Philippines. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter of Tomas Ventura Citco and Paulita Go Citco.
She met her beloved husband, Josefino "Joe" L. Ruperto, during their high school days at Quiapo Parochial School in the Philippines. They married on October 10, 1965, and recently celebrated 60 years of love and commitment. Their partnership blossomed both personally and professionally as they became business owners, managing multiple ventures including a grocery store and restaurant. After some time, they made the decision to migrate to the United States to build a better life for their family.
A woman of deep faith, Amelia loved to read the Bible and was passionate about sharing the gospel of the Lord with others. She faithfully served in her church for many years. She cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was sharing special moments with her family, especially her beloved husband.
Amelia is survived by her devoted husband, Josefino, and their seven children: Tommy Ruperto, Katherine Manzanilla, Cornelio Ruperto, Joselito Ruperto, Marie Menchie Ruperto, Isabel Guevarra, and Josefina Ruperto-Castrence. She is also survived by her 19 grandchildren: Nicole, Mark, Edrine, Elijah, Erin, Erika, Dinah, Charlene, Cornelio, Pauline, Czarina, Alyssa, Cassandra, Louisa, Julia, Olivia, David, Natalie, and Alex. Additionally, she leaves behind her siblings—Romeo Citco, Dante Citco, Lauro Citco, Jorge Citco, and her sister, Paulita Citco.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her love and faith will continue to inspire her family for generations to come.
She will be greatly missed by her friends, family, and all who knew and loved her.
