Alice L. Velotta's Obituary
Alice passed away May 11, 2012. She was born January 29, 1921 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. While a young girl Alice sang as a coloratura. She attended Columbia University and worked as a secretary. In the 1940s she moved to Los Angeles and worked for Paramount Studios as a Girl Friday for Paulette Goddard. During World War II she volunteered at The Hollywood Canteen where she met many movie stars, including Clark Gable. She then worked as a Hollywood policewoman. Her detective work made her one of the only women to work on the infamous “Black Dalia” case. Alice married Marvin Velotta in July of 1949, and they were married for 55 years. She doted on her daughter Nancie and her husband Dave. Alice was proud of her work as a teacher's assistant teaching English language learners. She is survived by three grandchildren, two grandson-in-laws and three great grandchildren
