Alice Reutlinger's Obituary
Alice Reutlinger, August 16, 1924 – June 20, 2010. Alice passed away following a three-year struggle with acute myeloid leukemia. Alice was born in Moenchaltorf, Switzerland, and was raised and educated in Switzerland, and studied in England and France, as well. She immigrated to the US in 1955 and lived in Boston, MA; New York, NY; and Colorado Springs and Aspen, CO before moving to San Francisco, CA in 1959. Alice was employed in San Francisco by Balfour Guthrie, King Merritt, and for 24 years by C & H Sugar Co. before retiring in July 1987. Retirement didn't slow her down and she was a long-term volunteer for several organizations: as a board member for Central City Hospital House for two years, a volunteer counselor for the Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP) for 11 years, and the secretary to the Central Seventh-day Adventist Church since January 1990. Alice is survived by her brother, Hardy Reutlinger, sisters, Vreni Brunschwiler and Bethli Rechsteiner, sister-in-law, Margrit Reutlinger and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, many of whom reside in Switzerland. Alice was a very special person and will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 27, at 4:00 PM at the Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2889 California Street, San Francisco. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, at 2:30 PM at Skylawn Memorial Park, 10600 Skyline Blvd., San Mateo, CA. Donations in her memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
