Dr. Alfred Stich's Obituary
Alfred B. Stich, BS, MD was a pre-med major. He played professional varsity baseball and was involved in a variety of educational group activities. He was awarded Phi Beta Kappa, and went on to New York University to earn his medical degree and induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.A physician and surgeon, Alfred began his career in 1945 with the U.S. Public Health Service. He was the local director of the California Medical Association from 1948 to 1981 before becoming the medical director of the Medical Board of California. He retired in 1992.Alfred is a member of the American Medical Association, the California and San Mateo Medical Associations, and the American Board Family Practice. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is a member of the board of directors of the San Mateo Grand Jury Association and an officer of Retired Public Employees of California, and has contributed to a number of local organization publications.Alfred is predeceased by his wife, Muriel. He is survived by two sons, Peter (also a medical doctor ) and Geoffrey, and one grand-child.Services in his honor will be held at Skylawn Funeral Home on February 16th 2015.
