Alfred Owen Rosa's Obituary
ALFRED ROSA
Born May 25th, 1927, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Freddie and Elsie Rosa. He was the oldest of 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He attended St. Louis College, (they called it college back then) for elementary and high school. In Dec 1941 during the attack on Pearl Harbor he was a freshman. Starting in Jan 1942, he attended school at Mckinnley High school in Honolulu, in the morning was taught by the Marianists educators. In the afternoon worked in the pineapple fields for 25 cents/day. St. Louis campus was for his 4 years of high school used as a hospital caring for the injured during the war.
After high school, he signed up for the US Army and was stationed at the Schofield Barracks and assigned to the AGD HQ CO, Army Forces Middle Pacific APO 958 and served for 2 years. Alfred then ventured out to what they called the mainland and attended Santa Rosa Junior College and then Seattle University where he earned his degree in accounting.
He returned to Honolulu, married Eleanor. Judy was their first child born in Hawaii and had Sandra and then Michael while living in California. When they moved to San Mateo he worked as a Top Salesman for Baker & Hamilton. He convinced the leadership team at B&H to allow him to grow the distribution of Hardware goods to Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. They thought he was crazy; however, they let him run with the plan and he grow B&H sales to be the #1 Sales Territory for all the company continually earned Top Salesman and awards. Eleanor passed away in Dec 1978 and he then married Mary Anne. He loved them both and gave both of them a wonderful life. He loved and always mentioned both Eleanor and Mary Anne as the best 2 wives anyone could have ever had.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Mary Anne, 3 Children, Judy Chessar, Sandra Rosa and (Jon) and Michael Rosa and wife Julie, his sister Carol Smith (Cloyce) and brother Tim Rosa.
He has 2 grandchildren, Patrick Chessar and Desare'a Rosastri and wife Eustcia and a great grandchild Shackleton, brother and sister-in-law and many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
Alfred is predeceased by his 1st wife Eleanor Rosa and his brother Ronald Rosa and sister Barbara Nobriga.
He is remembered as a kind, will do anything for you person. And along the lines as a giving person, he also volunteered in his 80's to deliver meals for Catholic Charities Meals on Wheels. He was so caring, that he purchased deserts for the folks he was delivering to cause he felt they should have some treats instead of just the main meal.
Alfred is also remembered for his love of sitting around with others, sharing many stories of his life’s adventures and experiences that many have been influenced by in their daily lives.
