Albert Kelsey Jr's Obituary
Albert Kelsey, Jr. passed away on April 26, 2013 at the age of 81. He was born in San Francisco in 1931 to Irene and Albert Kelsey, Sr. While he attended school he was known as James Strachan. He graduated from San Mateo High School in 1950. Albert was proud of his service in the US Navy during the Korean War. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Golden Gate University in 1968. Albert married Alma Alonso in 1959 and they were married for 51 years until her death in 2010. Albert and Alma lived in Belmont for most of their marriage. They attended the First Presbyterian Church of San Mateo.Albert's career spanned the history of Silicon Valley. One of his first jobs was working at Eitel-McCullough, a maker of vacuum tubes. His last job was with Cisco Systems, where he was proud to be among the first 100 employees. During his career he was an engineer, technical writer, and contract administrator. Albert is survived by his daughter Lissette Thein, her husband Rick, three grandchildren, and a number of other family members, including: his brother-in-law Samwel Alonso; his nieces Ruth Schott, Lois Newton, and Evelyn Castillo, and her husband Carlos; his nephews Russell Bowes and Stephen Schott, and his family Kay McKay and Michael Perkins; and all of their families. Albert had friends from his childhood who stayed close to him, including Fred Furrer and Jack Gorham. Albert also became very attached to Seluvaia and Mokiana Kamisese, who were caregivers for him during the last two years of his life. We loved him and he will be in our thoughts and prayers. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM on May 8 at Skylawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. A reception with light refreshments will follow the service.
