Adolphous Thomas' Obituary
Adolphous Thomas of San Francisco, passed away on August 8, 2016.Adolphous was born to the parentage of Walter Thomas and Lorean Clay Thomas on July 25, 1928. He was reared in Sandy Community, Limestone County, Texas. There he recalls precious memories of his grandfather Henry Thomas “Papa” and grandmother Lucy Thomas.As a teenager, Adolphous moved to California with his mother, where he attended school. He graduated from Mission High School and continued his education at University of San Francisco College where he joined Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the College of Liberal Arts and a Degree of Master of Arts in Educational Counseling.He met and married Eura Waller. For 60 years they shared a marriage of bliss, traveling and spending time together, doing things they loved. To this union no children were born, though they enjoyed a loving parentage with their God daughter, Leslie.Adolphous served in many organizations, including the San Francisco NAACP Youth Council, Thutmose Shrine Temple 74 (Prince Hall Affiliation), and Toastmasters. Adolphous was a member of Bayshore Lodge 64. He formed the San Francisco Bowling Association. In addition, he was the president of Northern California Bowling Association and San Francisco Bowling Association.He enjoyed bowling, traveling, fishing, spending time at the casino; family and friend interactions, and was in the process of writing his memoir when he passed away.He will be missed by his brothers, Walter Thomas, Jr. (Faye) and Wilmer Thomas (Thressa), both of Waco, Texas; God daughter, Leslie Jackson of San Francisco, California; His sister, Christine Young from Nashville, Tennessee; Dorothy Johnson from Texas; special friend, Della Roberts; and a host of nieces and nephews and relatives, and numerous friends.Preceding Adolphous in death are his wife, Eura; mother, Lorean McClendon; father, Walter Thomas; stepfather R.B. McClendon; and sister, Shirley Ray Thomas.
