Adelia Escalante's Obituary
Adelia Escalante, also known as “Ita” by her grandkids, a nickname given by her eldest granddaughter, aged 78, of South San Francisco died at her home on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 2013. She was surrounded by those who cared for her.She was born on January 20, 1936 in Santiago Texacuango, El Salvador, to Agustin and Cleotilde. She was not privileged to attended school at that time, but as an adult attended ESL classes. She taught herself how to read and write. On June 15, 1959 she civilly married Luis Escalante, in San Miguel, El Salvador. On December 26, 1990, they religiously married in Daly City, California, along side their four kids and three grandkids.In her younger years she enjoyed being a seamstress, but due to the responsibility of raising a family she had to give up that dream. She enjoyed music, specially “cumbias”. She loved dancing with her grandkids while she took care of them. Her most highest achievement was her family. To know where she came from and to see where she was, was worth her struggles in life.She was a devoted Catholic and was active at Holy Angels Church mainly in “Grupo Matrimoniales” alongside her husband. At the conferences, she was well known for her traditional Salvadorian cooking. She developed longterm friendships and those friends have kept in touch through out the years. The Vanegas Family, Bueno Family, Chinchilla Family, Ampie Family, Lacayo Family, and Guzman-Sanchez Family.Adelia is survived by three of her four kids: Ana, Luis Jr. and Glenda; five grandchildren: Leslie, Jessica, Albert, Monica, and Raquel; two great-grandchildren: Joshua and Olivia; two sons-in-law: Alberto and Juan; three siblings: Arsenio, Emma, and Elba; one daughter-in-law: Ninelle; many nephews, nieces, and friends. She is predeceased by Luis who passed away on May 8, 2013 and her son Juan who passed away on April 13, 2005. She is also predeceased by three of her siblings: Ismael, Orlando, and Alfredo. She is now reunited in heaven with her loved ones.A Wake Service will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Skylawn Memorial Park. The funeral with be held on Tuesday July 8, 2014 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception at the same facility.Thank you to everyone who sincerely loved and cared for her. Those who took their time to visit her and/or call to ask about her, kept her in their prayers, and specially those on her side of her family. Thank you to Kaiser Hospice for such a great service.
