John 15:13 KJV 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Mr. Abner Leroy Slater III (Junebug) was born September 14, 1954 in Tokyo, Japan, to Abner Slater Jr. and Masae Slater. He is survived by his mother and remaining siblings: Marie, Marvin, Alan (Shirley) , Robert (Lorraine), Joseph (Renee) Johnny ( Michelle), Judy and Joyce. Also a host of relatives worldwide. He attended Seaside High School in California where he was a standout basketball athlete, favorite team was Golden State Warriors and attended college where he graduated with a Degree in Physics in California. He was from a military veteran family. He Grew up and enjoyed traveling in Asia, Europe and the USA. His hobbies included playing basketball and tennis as well as watching sports cars, reading comics and he was a Professional caregiver in which he took loving daily care of his family. He loved all of his nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles including extended family and friends.He will always be remembered as a fine devoted Christian who demonstrated devotion of true faith , love and caring each day of his life. He will always be in the memories carried in the hearts of his family and friends. Overall, Abner was a Professional Caregiver all his life. He spent many years caring for his Father and Mother with his Brother Marvin. Many people benefited from his kind heart and his generous personality, but the most important part of his life was his family. He was very proud of us all and he often told us so. He liked to help people have a better life. He took time to listen. He didn't judge others who thought differently than he did. He gave people room to make mistakes and correct them. He didn't hold grudges. He loved his family and reared all the children and grandchildren unconditionally. He allowed people room to become who they would become and cheered them on in the process. He forgave and hoped to be forgiven. He has a caring heart and his work to help others is his lasting legacy. Abner loved, cared, served God, family, and children. He shines, as the brightness of the firmament, like they who have led many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. JUNEBUG -
