Susan Lee Krichhoff's Obituary
A Quiet Light of Learning: Remembering Susan Lee Krichhoff
April 16th, 1948 - October 12th, 2025
Morning light often found Susan Lee Krichhoff greeting the day with steady calm. Born on the Midway Islands on April 16th, 1948, she carried the wide ocean sky in her outlook.
As a lifelong learner, Susan turned every question into a path forward. Books, field guides, and quiet trails shaped her sense of wonder.
Her work reached far corners in classrooms where she taught English as a Second Language, listening patiently to each new voice. Later, in research libraries, she guided others through shelves of knowledge with the same care.
Friends spoke of her resilience, confidence, intelligence, and steady determination. She met challenges directly yet always left space for laughter and shared walks outdoors.
Outdoor activities gave her balance; long hikes, open campsites, and fresh air renewed her spirit. Evenings often ended with a book, pages turning like gentle conversation.
She cared for the earth in daily practice, choosing small, thoughtful actions over loud declarations. Her quiet example encouraged others to tread lightly.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Krichhoff and Bluette Krichhoff. She is remembered with love by her sisters, Barbara Fujiwara and Karen Litwin.
On October 12th, 2025, at her home in Colfax, California, Susan’s long day came to its close. May the calm she found in turning pages and walking open paths remain with all who think of her.
