Joses Ieok Sai Sun
July 21, 1919 - May 10, 2022
On the morning of May 10, 2022, our beloved father, Elder Joses Sun, a faithful servant of God, went to his eternal glory with the Lord at his home in San Francisco. He was 102 years old. His home going can be described as in 2 Timothy verses 4:7-8 “ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness….” Elder Sun was born on July 21, 1919 to a Christian family in Yantai, Shandong Province of China. At the age of seventeen, he went to Shanghai to study. After graduating from high school, he attended Shanghai College of Agriculture. While attending college, he started a farm business with his classmates in the outskirt of the city. The farm was so popular that it became a leisure attraction to the locals at that time. In 1945, He married the love of his life, Ms. Ruth Chou, in Shanghai. Afterwards, he joined his father in the import & export business. In 1950, he settled in Qingdao, Shandong, and raised a family of four daughters. In 1962, God miraculously led him, his wife, and two daughters out of China to Macau. At this time, he answered the calling from God to serve Him full-time, and established the Church of Macau. In 1976, He arrived in California with his whole family. He actively involved in church ministries: leading Bible study classes, family prayer meetings, sharing gospel at several nursing homes, and developing a Christian outreach program for children and families in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. At the age of 83, he started a quarterly publication, The Spring ministry. He had dedicated his whole life to the work of God’s Kingdom until he went home with the Lord. At the old age of 90, Elder Sun started holding a Christian Conference every year in Hong Kong. The last conference in Hong Kong was held in 2018 when he was 99 years old. In his lifetime, he revered God, overcame many challenges with his faith in God, and dedicated to preaching the gospel for God’s kingdom. Elder Sun survived with a wife, 4 daughters and 3 grandsons who loved him deeply. A private ceremony has been arranged at Skylawn Memorial Park off Highway 92 in San Mateo.
