Janne Chinn

Janne Chinn, 89 of Daly City passed away peacefully with the company of her only child on the morning of April 12, 2018 after suffering complications from a stroke.

Janne was born on November 19, 1928 in Yokohama, Japan where she spent her childhood and early adult life. In 1955, she married Dean Chinn (who preceded her in death in 1998) and moved to the United States where she made her home in California. During her first years in California, she co-owned with her husband a laundry and cleaner’s business. She attended ESL classes at San Francisco Community College. Her first job in America was as a keypunch operator. Later on, she worked as a school crossing guard for SFPD in Chinatown, before moving indoors to become an office clerk for Chinatown Community College.

She enjoyed her retirement years spending time with her family and traveling to different countries. She also loved plants and gardening. She usually walked one mile per day and practiced Tai Chi on a daily basis up to the end of her life.

She is survived by her son David and daughter- in- law Neyireth, Grandchildren Sarah and Elena, Sister Jean, Sister-in-law Wah-Mei, Nephews Warren, Jack and Gary, Nieces Stephanie, Cindy, Mae and Cyndi, plus many great-nephews and great-nieces.

A wake service will be held on Thursday, April 19th from 5 to 8 p.m. to be followed by Funeral services on Friday April 20th, at 11am. Janne will be laid to rest at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo California.
